Is it Really Full?

 

In this demonstration, the students show that a full glass of water really isn't as full as you might think.

The project above is a DEMONSTRATION. To make it a true experiment, you can try to answer these questions:

  1. Does the shape of the container change the size of the meniscus?
  2. How much water is contained in the meniscus?
  3. Do other liquids form a meniscus?

"The Magic of Science" Grant

In November 2008, Mrs. Russ received a $1000 grant from The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). NDIA Gulf Coast Chapter awarded grants to Okaloosa County School District teachers through their ACCEL Grants program. The grants are intended to support innovative classroom projects that foster enthusiasm for math and science. Mrs. Russ' project, "The Magic of Science," enabled her students to research, write, and produce a series of science podcasts that demonstrate concepts taught in the third grade science curriculum.
