Be a Mind Reader

One way we practice spelling the words on the Word Wall is called "Be A Mind Reader." This activity comes fromPatricia Cunningham's book Month-by-Month Phonics for Third Grade: Systematic, Multilevel Instruction for Third Grade.

What is Be a Mind Reader?

In Be A Mind Reader, I choose a word from the word wall and give five clues, one at a time. The students write down their guess for each clue and are amazed when, by the fifth clue, they can read my mind!
